SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 25 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Canary Islands Government Council approved this Thursday the hiring of a service consisting of analyzing and assessing the social reality that minors affected by the volcanic eruption and their families are experiencing, detecting vulnerabilities, establishing the corresponding compensatory measures and documenting the acting.
This service is launched by the General Directorate for the Protection of Children and the Family, to attend to families who have had to be evacuated for an undetermined time, conditioned by the evolution of the volcanic phenomenon, and especially to the underage persons.
Addressing the vulnerabilities derived from this situation requires an immediate response from all the competent public administrations in matters of child protection and family care, without such care being delayed, thereby avoiding unwanted situations of risk or lack of protection.
Thus, in order to care for these families and the minors that make them up, the Ministry of Social Rights, Equality, Diversity and Youth, through the General Directorate for the Protection of Children and the Family, hiring a service consisting of the development of actions for the assessment, attention and documentation of situations of vulnerability of minors affected by the volcanic eruption.
The actions have a complementary character with respect to the functions and actions carried out by the municipal teams for the care of children.
To materialize this response, the collaborating entity Option 3 is available, endowing it with a budget item that amounts to 141,375.88 euros, with a period of validity from October 15, 2021 until the end of the emergency situation.
OBJECTIVES OF THE ACTION
The contracted service has as a fundamental objective the development of actions for the assessment, attention and documentation of situations of vulnerability of minors, residing in the municipalities of El Paso, Los Llanos de Aridane and Tazacorte, who have been seen or can be seen affected as a result of the emergency situation produced by the volcanic eruption.
In addition, other objectives are contemplated such as carrying out the study and analysis of the social reality that families with dependent minors are experiencing; the detection of the vulnerabilities that may or may occur in the short and medium term to effectively design the corresponding compensatory measures and the measurement of the impact that has occurred in the families with dependent minors and to act efficiently and quickly.
The project contemplates support, accompaniment and direct attention to minors and their families, as well as establishing a collaborative and coordinated framework with the Childhood and Family Area of the Social Services of the affected municipalities, guaranteeing the good management of compensatory resources between the different entities and administrations, avoiding duplication of care.
