Canary Islands added yesterday 334 infections of coronavirus, which represents the highest daily figure since August 14, when the Ministry of Health The regional Executive notified 356 new cases. In addition, on the last day, the Archipelago lamented a death linked to the pathogen in Lanzarote. The deceased, a 65-year-old male, was afflicted with previous pathologies and remained in hospital. Since the beginning of the health crisis, 1,034 people have died with SARS-CoV-2 infection in the autonomous community.
Taking into account the data disaggregated by islands, Tenerife added 127 clinical pictures this Wednesday; Gran Canaria 140; Lanzarote 17; Fuerteventura 40; La Palma nine; and La Gomera one. El Hierro, on the other hand, managed to keep its general record unchanged.
Right now, in the Archipelago there are 2,708 patients suffering from the disease –197 more than in the previous 24 hours–. Most are in Tenerife, which has 1,168 positives. Gran Canaria follows, with 1,109; Fuerteventura, with 231; Lanzarote, with 151; La Palma, with 35; La Gomera, with 13; and El Hierro, with one.
The hospital situation also showed variations. In fact, in the Covid plants there are already 190 patients admitted –15 more–, while in the critical beds there are 27 people affected by the microorganism –one less.
Since the last balance, 136 epidemiological discharges were issued, so the count of patients who have managed to overcome the condition amounts to 97,783. The three municipalities that concentrate the highest number of recovered are Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, with 32,301; Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with 22,103; and La Laguna, with 11,054.
So far, professionals have performed 2,365,137 diagnostic tests, of which 7,339 were performed last Tuesday.
The accumulated incidence in the last seven days stands at 81.44 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and the indicator that marks that of the last 14 days reflects 143.52 tables on the same number of inhabitants.
