SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 25 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Governing Council authorized in its session this Thursday the Ministry of Health to allocate an item of 10,246,940.80 euros during the year 2022 for the provision of the hemodialysis service in the Health area of Tenerife.
Of this item, 5,760,940.80 euros correspond to the expenditure planned by the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria Hospital Complex for the provision of hemodialysis treatments to patients referred to the island’s health centers with which there is an agreement, while the The remaining 4,486,000 euros correspond to the cost estimated by the Canary Islands University Hospital Complex for the same benefit.
The centers with which an outpatient hemodialysis agreement has been established on the island of Tenerife are Clinicas del Sur, SLU, B. Braun Avitum Servicios Renales, SA, and IDCQ Hospitales y Sanidad, SL.
According to the Registry of Renal Replacement Treatment (TRS) of Spain, the Canary Islands is one of the autonomous communities with the highest number of patients receiving this treatment per million of the population, due to a higher prevalence of diabetes and the aging of the population, factors that increase the risk of chronic kidney disease.
