SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 24 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The processing of the autonomous budget for 2022 continues its course in the Parliament of the Canary Islands after the rejection this Wednesday of the amendments to the entire CC and PP during the plenary session of the first reading debate.

The budget adds up to a total of 9,098.3 million, 7.3% more than this year –624.2 million more – with 75% of non-financial spending allocated to social policies and public services.

In addition, investments increased by 16.8% to total 1,382.1 million and support to the productive sectors increased by 28.5% and reached 383.1 million.

The most important increases in absolute terms correspond to the Canary Islands Health Service, with 160.6 million more, for a total of 3,461 million; Education, Universities, Culture and Sports, with 158 million more, for a total of 2,137 million and Social Rights, Equality, Diversity and Youth, which increases its items by 70 million euros, to stand at 580.3 million euros.

In relative terms, the highest growth is registered in the Department of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning, with a 34.3% increase, bringing its budget to 207.8 million.

Likewise, Agriculture, Livestock and Fishing increased by 23.6%, to stand at 129 million euros, and the Canarian Employment Service grew by 20.3%, for global accounts of 332.8 million euros.

The accounts also include 100 million expandable to meet the needs derived from the eruption on La Palma, which are complemented by the decree-law of fiscal relief already validated by Parliament.

The vice president of the Government of the Canary Islands and Minister of Finance, Román Rodríguez has defended the third budget of the Executive “in the worst triennium” in the history of the Canary Islands -2020-22-, underlining that it is “prudent and realistic” and with expenses committed to the guidance of the Government.

In addition, he stressed that “taxes are not touched” and debt is lowered and “a great effort” is made to maintain public services and boost investments.

RECOVERY IS “SLOWER”, AVISA CC-PNC

The spokesman for the Nationalist Group, José Miguel Barragán, has said that the budgets are not prudent with income, nor are they balanced, nor are they even oriented so that the Canary Islands can come out of the crisis.

He has regretted the loss of weight of investments and the lack of budget execution in “key areas” of the Government and has said that no body that makes economic forecasts agrees with the Government of the Canary Islands and Spain and that the prudence exhibited by the Government “is not real “, since the recovery” is slower “and complicated. “And what I see is joy, that more funds will arrive,” he commented.

The spokesperson for the Popular Group, Australia Navarro, has said that the 2022 regional budgets show the “incompetence, foolishness and recklessness” of the Government of the Canary Islands and are “a short and paste” whose only mission is to keep the quadripartite in power “to coast of the impoverishment of the canaries “.

In defense of the amendment to the totality, he has rejected the “propaganda” of the Executive with “insensitive” and “not very serious” accounts, with an “unrealistic” estimate of income.

He said that the document “is pure science fiction” and “dead paper” at a time of rising inflation and commodity prices, and with the main economic organizations revising growth forecasts in Spain downwards.

THE ACCOUNTS “WITH THE SAME”, ACCORDING TO CS

The deputy of Ciudadanos (Cs), Ricardo Fernández, has said that the accounts “are the same” as in previous years with the exception that they grow due to the arrival of European funds to face the economic crisis derived from the pandemic.

In addition, he has warned that when the pandemic wave passes, the economic adjustments from the EU will return, so he hopes that the resources will be used well to guarantee economic recovery.

The spokesperson for the Mixed Group, Vidina Espino, has said that the Canary Islands’ budgets “are a giant with feet of clay” marked by “the smoke and fireworks” of the vice president, Román Rodríguez.

“The one who fails is the one who is doing the accounts,” he said before stressing that the document leads the Canaries to “more poverty and real hardships.”

He pointed out that the aid of 100 million to La Palma “is empty”, like the first houses that have been delivered on the island, while criticizing the lack of implementation in terms of housing by the regional government.

The ASG deputy, Melodie Mendoza, has criticized that CC and PP present amendments to the whole because it could imply extending the budgets, which would cause public investment and the stimulation of the economy to decline.

Likewise, he has condemned his lack of intention “to add” to help economic recovery since neither group has presented an alternative project.

TO CC AND PP “THEY HAVE A LOT STILL LEFT A LOT”

The spokesman for Sí Podemos, Manuel Marrero, has said that if CC and PP continue on the path of amendments to the whole, they will end up being “irrelevant” because they do not contribute anything to solve the problems of citizens.

“They still have a lot of bench,” he commented, also warning that the Canarian PP “increasingly resembles” the “Madrid matrix” and the ultra-right, for which he has asked them to make “constructive proposals and join the shoulder”.

The NC spokesman, Luis Campos, has endorsed a “good budget” for the Canary Islands for 2022 that includes increased investments, more personnel in basic services, reform of the PCI or 100 million for La Palma “and whatever it takes”.

Likewise, he has criticized the tax cut proposed by the Nationalist Group and the “destructive proclamations” of the PP in individual amendments to the entirety.

The deputy of the Socialist Group, Iñaki Lavandera, has criticized the lack of alternatives and “irresponsibility” of CC and PP in their amendments to the whole to present another budget that helps improve the situation in the Canary Islands.

Along these lines, he has called CC-PNC’s view of the accounts “biased” and pointed out that the PP’s position “blushes” because they make an analysis plagued with “falsehoods and without any kind of argument.”
