The mayor of Los Realejos, Manuel Domínguez, considers that the Cabildo de Tenerife “has made the citizens suffer unfairly and unnecessarily” with the execution of the replacement and containment work of the collapsed wall on the TF-333, at the height de La Montaña, located on a private property, and considers it “fair” that it has decided not to appeal the ruling issued by the Administrative Litigation Court number 2, which agrees with the City Council.
“The island president, Pedro Martín, and the Highways Minister, Enrique Arriaga, have received a light to see what we have been proposing from the beginning and it was nothing more than to seek an immediate solution for the citizens,” says the mayor. , who regrets that it was necessary to go to court for this.
Domínguez recalls that from the first moment he was committed to a temporary solution that would allow the road to be opened to traffic and then, when the General Management Plan (PGO) was approved, the wall would be taken to the distance that the Cabildo intended. “A precautionary and temporary measure to safely open traffic and entail the least possible expense in order to avoid unnecessary investment if it later has to be demolished, but it is the technicians who have to evaluate what actions can be carried out. there ”, he insists.
Regarding the start of the works, it will depend on the execution order that is made to the property, which has always been willing to collaborate. In this sense, he believes that it should begin “by cleaning and clearing what already exists and then lifting what has fallen and on the existing wall, taking the necessary actions to stabilize the slope.”
In his opinion, containing the slope “is logical”, but not in the way proposed by the Cabildo “because it is an exaggerated investment, with the containment of the wall at three meters, an injection of concrete and some definitive pillars.” The Council’s proposal “was a simpler investment, which could then be easily withdrawn and the conclusive action carried out once the PGO is approved. I invite the Cabildo to do so when it is going to develop the La Luz roundabout, since it is a project that could be done in an integral way ”, he emphasizes.
