The organization of the Children’s Forum promotes the direct participation of children and constitutes “an ideal formula to instill in them democratic and civic values.” In this meeting the rights of the child are worked, which this year have focused on those of equality and protection. Over the last few months, the boys and girls of the different schools in the municipality have worked on projects with this objective.
The La Orotava government group points out that it gives this group of the population “the prominence and attention it deserves, carrying out multiple actions and activities in this regard throughout the year, and thus, recently, the municipality has received the distinction of Child Friendly City ».
With this type of initiative, the City Council aims to «promote the knowledge of boys and girls about the rights of childhood and adolescence; awaken positive attitudes of respect and solidarity; highlight the importance of equality and protection as a right for all children in the world and identify and prevent possible inequalities, abandonment or lack of protection ”.
The poster for this edition, in addition to displaying the forum logo, the slogan and the date, includes “superheroes to the rescue of children who suffer exploitation or any mistreatment.” The participating schools are also identified as the CEIP Santa Teresa de Jesús, Inocencio Sosa Hernández, San Agustín or Santo Tomás de Aquino, among others.
