José Carlos Rodríguez Rodríguez, PSOE councilor, attributes the situation to “the poor urban planning of the one who governs the San Miguel Mayor’s Office and, also, the Urban Planning Department during the last decades.” The mayor points out him as “the person responsible for the town of San Miguel de Abona having to pay this amount of money.”
In his public criticism, the Socialist councilor details and explains that one of the compensations that the City Council must face “in a compulsory manner”, taking into account that it corresponds to “a final judicial sentence”, refers to 427,000 euros corresponding to a reparcelling carried out in Llano del Camello.
The other files referred to by the PSOE of San Miguel de Abona, “which are in the administrative phase”, are linked to an occupation of private land attributed to the City Council in the area of Punta del Lomo (Guargacho), for which The municipal Treasury would pay an amount of 202,000 euros, in addition to the corresponding amount for the claim for lost profits (potential profit not obtained) made by the company that had the award of the municipal swimming pool work, which has been paralyzed since 2006 Such compensation amounts to 186,085 euros,
In this sense, councilor José Carlos Rodríguez explains that what was to be the municipal swimming pool, which is located next to the facilities of the Jonay Risco Pérez Municipal Sports Pavilion, “is an unfulfilled promise of the Canary Islands Coalition (CC).” In addition, from the PSOE it is stated that “what cannot be explained, in any way, is that they want to make a new pool, when they have this one unfinished,” the councilor stressed, alluding to the project of the sports complex that is announced to be built in Plain of the Camel.
The socialist councilor José Carlos Rodríguez Rodríguez reiterated that “These last two files are not completely closed.” However, it draws attention to the action of the municipal government in this regard. “The government group has already consigned the financial amounts, because they know that the debt obligation must be paid.”
Sanitation
Likewise, the PSOE of San Miguel de Abona once again warns the mayor and his government group of the need and obligation to have a municipal sanitation network in order and functioning. A total of 19 streets in the municipality will be paved but none will have sanitation, they say. The planning, according to the Socialist Party in the municipality, “is to squander, now, 800,000 euros on asphalt and within three years to carry out works on these streets again to provide them with sanitation, rainwater and drinking water networks, at an approximate cost of 2.2 million euros ”.
