The Cabildo de Tenerife will not appeal the ruling issued by the Contentious Administrative Court number 2 that gives the reason to the Los Realejos City Council regarding the execution of replacement and containment work of the collapsed wall on the TF-333, at the height de La Montaña, in said municipal area.

The justice concluded that the reports from the Cabildo to paralyze the works to replace the wall, located in front of the El Monasterio restaurant, in the Montaña de El Fraile area, were not binding or necessary for the execution of the works, which began in March of 2020 by private property, prior municipal authorization and were paralyzed by the Cabildo. Since November 2019, for security reasons, this section of road has been closed to traffic, generating significant problems in the area since the road is essential for the traffic of Los Realejos, La Orotava and Puerto de la Cruz.

A decision with which the island president, Pedro Martín, does not agree but has accepted. “We are not going to appeal or raise any conflict and therefore, we leave the decision that it deems most appropriate in the hands of the City Council. We believe that we also had our opinion and that our reports are binding but we are not going to continue with this debate about who is right or wrong and in the meantime, the wall has not been completed and has represented an obvious danger in the area for a long time ”, he declared. yesterday after the meeting held with members of the neighborhood neighborhood association, the owners of the wall and representatives of the educational community of the Pureza de María School to explain the reasons why such a decision has been made and what it entails. The councilor and the insular director of Roads, Enrique Arriaga and Tomás Félix García, respectively, also participated in the meeting.

For his part, Enrique Arriaga stressed that the area he presides has been working since April, -when the report of the collapse of the wall was received- with the property to achieve a technical solution. “The works were to ensure and stabilize that slope and within a period of two months in which the work would last, security would be guaranteed and the road would be opened,” he said.

“The project is finished. It is not only to place the wall in one place or another, but to secure the slope to avoid that the six meters high can collapse on a car or a pedestrian and can cause very serious damage. That is why we will insist that, although the Cabildo’s reports are not binding, the City Council takes into account what is reflected there, ”he said. In this sense, he confirmed that the Cabildo had delivered all the necessary reports to those responsible so that the action can begin right now.
