casting time at the Casa del Carnaval, in Santa Cruz. Fran Pallero

More than 50 children participated yesterday, at the Casa del Carnaval, in Santa Cruz, in the casting called by the Autonomous Organization of Festivities and Recreational Activities (Oafar) of the City Council of the capital to select the minors who will co-present the Gala of choice of the Children’s Queen 2022. A test that began at five in the afternoon and did not end until nine at night, and in which the minors, between 6 and 12 years old, many of them linked to the world of Carnival, showed a great self-confidence and a great artistic attitude.
The children had memorized texts that they had received by email. Once inside, they climbed onto a small stage and had to present one of the candidates for the Children’s Carnival Queen. In addition, they had to have a conversation, also studied, with the presenter, as well as sing, dance and, on some occasions, tell a joke.
The minors were somewhat nervous and very excited about the possibility of participating in this way in the next Carnival, and they showed it in their tests. And it is that at some point, the journalist and presenter, Alicia Rodríguez Reyes, who directed the casting, had to help them to be calm.
A selection in which the mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, was present and supervised by the artistic director of the Carnival, Enrique Camacho, who told DIARIO DE AVISOS that during the test he found that “there is a lot of talent, a lot of level and many looking forward to Carnival ”. He stated that he had received several carnival candidates with many tables on stage and assured that it will be very difficult to choose “because we like most of them.”
In addition, Enrique Camacho revealed that for next week they will carry out several singing, acting and body language workshops that will serve “as a second screen” to definitively select the children who will co-present the gala.
But this is not the only test that Fiestas has called for the well-known winter festivals. The Santa Cruz City Council has opened the registration period to summon singers and dancers who are interested in participating in the different galas.
The voices that will be part of the staging of the overture of the Adult Queen Election Gala are sought, but also dancers, acrobats and versatile extras with presence, knowledge of contemporary and urban dance, as well as Latin dance, with experience in the participation of shows.
The person in charge who will direct this test will be the choreographer Juan Manzano and the deadline for registration will be open until next Sunday, November 28.
Once all the applications have been received, the artistic direction will contact the selected artists to summon them to the corresponding tests.
