The great nativity scene of La Orotava moves this Christmas to the Plaza de La Constitución

Some of the animals and shepherds that, due to lack of space, will not be able to be located in the upper part of the square, will adorn the lower gardens of this emblematic corner of the Villa, «which will allow us to have an even more attractive and Christmas space », As highlighted by the mayor of Fiestas, Alexis Pacheco (CC). As it already happened in Christmas 2020, a one-way route will be established with capacity limited to 98 people at a time.

Alexis Pacheco anticipates that the opening of this nativity scene, and the lighting of the Christmas lights, are scheduled for Friday, November 26, “from 7:30 p.m. and with the performance of students from La Orotava Music School». Despite the change in location, the mayor is satisfied with the result: «Everything has been compressed a bit, but we have placed some figures in the square’s gardens and some new features have been incorporated that will attract attention, such as the shearing workshop and an area of haima».

The visiting hours of the life-size nativity scene in La Orotava will be from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday. On weekends it will not close at noon and it will be possible to enjoy the Christmas magic from 10:00 to 21:00. In the first five days of the month of January, the closing hours will be extended until 10:30 p.m.

It is planned that the works in the town hall square, budgeted at 325,000 euros, begin this week, with the aim of finishing in time so that the carpenters can elaborate the great tapestry of the 2022 Corpus.
