SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 17 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, has demanded this Wednesday that controls and prevention measures be intensified in ports, airports, tourist establishments, hoteliers and leisure to avoid a new rebound in cases of covid-19 that will hinder the recovery economic and employment on the island.
Martín, who maintains permanent contact with the Government of the Canary Islands, shows his concern and demands “that the measures adopted be in line with allowing access to the establishments only to those people who are vaccinated and do not address the restriction of capacity or schedules in restaurants, nightclubs, leisure spaces, sports “.
Thus, he proposes in a note that “controls in accommodation should continue and be intensified and that control in ports and airports for foreign and national passengers be increased.”
The president pointed out that “the prospects for improvement in the health field and economic growth, especially in the tourism field, are very good, so much so that the forecast of Tourism of Tenerife is that the figures for the winter of 2019 can be exceeded” .
Therefore, he details that in the face of this economic start-up situation, one must “be very clear” that one cannot “be complacent with those who do not want to be vaccinated or who are not concerned about putting other people at risk.”
Martín has shown his concern about the gradual increase in cases in Tenerife and the Canary Islands and insists that he should not wait any longer to take control and prevention measures, in view of the regional Government Council that will be held this Thursday.
“The data are good, but we are concerned about the gradual increase that is taking place in the Canary Islands and especially in Tenerife and we do not have to wait any longer. We have to start taking control measures until now,” he commented.
Likewise, in line with the island’s economic and social agents, the president has called for greater social awareness and more efforts to increase vaccination rates, while again offering the facilities available to the Cabildo if they were needed to new immunization campaigns.
