During the inauguration, the 200-square-meter stand has attracted the attention of professionals, congressmen and members of the press who have gathered at the Palacio de Congresos and the Kursaal Auditorium, in Donostia, to attend one of the largest gastronomic events in the international arena.
The island’s local products have starred in various activities. Among them are the presentation on the black pig by Erlantz Gorostiza, chef of the MB Abama hotel –with two Michelin stars–, the I National Contest of Desserts with Tropical Fruits of Tenerife and the great wine tasting.
Javier Parrilla has pointed out that participation in this event tries to «unite these products, such as the cheese factories that we have on the Island, with what can be a generic benefit for the primary sector, the maintenance of a territory and a landscape, that also feeds us, at the same time, due to the field of tourism ».
Much to offer
The insular director of Tourism, Laura Castro, insisted that “Tenerife wants to show that our destination has a lot to offer: gastronomy and good wines to awaken emotions.”
The Minister of Tourism of Tenerife, David Pérez, points out: «The Island is consolidated as a gastronomic destination of reference with its products, its designations of origin and the magnificent team of professionals who leave the pavilion high. Chef Erlantz Gorostiza has made a journey through the history of the black pig of Tenerife, 2,500 years old, to later capture its exceptional qualities culinary.

Under the concept of Volcanic whites under the shelter of Teide, José Hidalgo and Ana María Martín showed those attending the tasting, which completely filled Room 10, one of the most fascinating parts of the vast viticulture of Tenerife. The wines presented were Pagos de Reverón; Atlante listán blanco + albillo; El Roquillo, white list; Tágara, marmajuelo; Callius, verdello, and El Sitio, aromatic malvasía. The tasting had a final surprise, as two reds were offered to the attendees: Magma de Cráter, negramoll, and Castellana Fincas Vegas.
José Bertolo (Casa Solla. 1 Mechelin), with his Skins and gofio, has been proclaimed winner of the 1st National Contest of Desserts with Tropical Fruits of Tenerife. It has had a panel of finalists of the highest national level. In the end, Parrilla and Laura Castro presented the winner with a check for 1,500 euros and a basket with premium products from Tenerife.
‘MasterChef Celebrity’, on the Island
La Isla starred last night in the MasterChef Celebrity program on TVE’s La 1. The Tenerife Tourism Minister, David Pérez, explains: “We take advantage of this platform to promote the island as a tourist destination and showcase to showcase its local products and excellent gastronomy.” He values that it takes place “just in the week of San Sebastián Gastronómika, where we go with the largest stand in history and a program based on our landscape and the emotions it generates.” The Ritz-Carlton Abama in Guía de Isora has hosted the outdoor test, where participants reproduced dishes from Michelin-starred chefs Martín Berasategui (12) and Ricardo Sanz (1), from the resort’s MB restaurant, and from Kabuki Abama, also in complex, respectively. One team cooked the Berasategui menu and the other the Sanz Japanese fusion. They made 30 servings of each dish, tasted by regular customers.
