The central nave of the island facility will host the so-called ULLniverso, promoted by the Social Council of the Tenerife academic institution. The assembly hall is reserved for the rest of the scheduled activities. The idea is that it is a fair “where work is talked about.”
The insular councilor of the area, Carmen Luz Baso, points out that this is “an opportunity given the need to bring, move and disseminate the offers of the labor market to the people who intervene in the employability process”, in a key framework to obtain the knowledge necessary in the search for active employment.
For her part, the president of the Social Council of the University of La Laguna, María Dolores Pelayo, has emphasized “the paradigm changes” proposed by the current economy and the need to bring applicants closer to the new job offer.
An opportunity
Chance. It is the word that the insular counselor of Employment repeats. He values that the fair “will try to offer, with the help of the Social Council of the University of La Laguna, precisely opportunities”, with the labor market as the stage and directed from experience to the people who intervene in the employability process. The intention is to cover all the aspects that are given, from training to the human resources departments of the companies, institutions and organizations that collaborate.
The president of the Social Council of the ULL points out that “the level of frustration of young people and students, with respect to employability, has led to a constant emigration of this social mass.” In this sense, he appreciates that some young people who have gone abroad are going to share their experience. Pelayo adds that “there is a clear divorce between training centers and the new job demands required by the current economy.” He defends “those proposals that lead to a great revolution, a change in the way of seeing work.” For this reason, he values, “it is necessary to prepare young people and training centers for these new demands.”
Pelayo has influenced new lines of work such as digitization. He reflects: «We only talk about the jobs that can be subtracted, but not about the many jobs that can be consolidated. Employmentland includes workshops, activities and presentations by leading people from different sectors. Aimed at channeling talent, an aspect that will alternate with the Employment, Entrepreneurship and Internationalization Fair through the participation, in the different spaces, of business organizations and unions that focus the prominence of the event.
“From the Cabildo we want to maintain guidance and support regarding the active search for employment, but with the appropriate tools along the way of bringing the applicant closer to the companies and simultaneously offering the appropriate training”, summarizes the counselor Carmen Luz Baso.
With the exception of the presentations and round tables in the ULLniverso-ULL Social Council space, with free entry and without prior registration, those interested in participating in the rest of the actions will have to register for free through the website Empleoland.com or go to directly to the Fairgrounds. A two-day appointment with job opportunities and a key space to publicize the needs of the labor market, as well as obtain the necessary knowledge in the active search for a job. A change in the way of seeing work that poses as fundamental to prepare young people, on the one hand, and training centers, on the other, to respond to new demands.
