SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 13 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Councilor for Urban Planning of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, Carlos Tarife, has pledged to continue demanding the Government of the Canary Islands to modify the regulations of classified activities with the aim that more than 20 chairs can be placed on the terraces.
This has been transferred by the Councilor for Urban Planning during a meeting held this week with businessmen from the Central Zone, with the intention of analyzing and finding a solution to the terraces of the hospitality sector that are in the vicinity of San Francisco Street.
Carlos Tarife pointed out that this change in the regulations would allow the hospitality industry to have up to 50 chairs on the terraces, through the prior communication procedure, “providing hoteliers with a procedure that in the times in which we live is of vital importance for companies in the sector “.
Tarife said he did not understand the attitude of the president of the regional Executive, Ángel Víctor Torres, who “does not finish modifying this regulation of classified activities, which allows hoteliers to place up to 50 chairs with a simple prior communication, something that is a real necessity for businessmen in the sector, after the economic consequences that the coronavirus crisis has had for them “.
On the other hand, Carlos Tarife announced that an agreement emerged from that work meeting “for the Central Zone to coordinate with the owners of the aforementioned terraces to prepare a detailed study that orders them, in a protected area like this, that consider aspects such as the number of terraces or their aesthetics, among others “.
The Councilor for Urbanism valued this meeting as “very positive”, in which progress has been made in the development of a proposal that gives an answer to the situation of the terraces.
