The nationalists demand stimuli for consumption and criticize the “uncertainty” in which SMEs and freelancers live in the face of “the enormous bureaucracy” for the aid promised by the governments of Spain and the Canary Islands to arrive.
The secretary general of CC de Tenerife, Francisco Linares, assures: «The self-employed feel abandoned and do not have an interlocutor to listen to them. The Council and the Government are a wall. He adds that “European funds should arrive to transform the Island, make it more innovative and bet on the circular economy, but we find ourselves with a PSOE government in the Cabildo that has no leadership, no future strategy or a plan.”
Greater haste.
Tenerife’s nationalists have requested greater speed by the island, regional and state administrations when it comes to the aid to effectively reach SMEs and the self-employed, in addition to demanding that incentives be put in place for consumption that favors activity of companies. Francisco Linares stated during the meeting that “the atmosphere that exists when we talk to the self-employed is one of restlessness and abandonment. There is no interlocutor.
The first door.
Linares insisted that city councils have been “the first to help citizens, companies, SMEs and the self-employed; however, neither in the state government budget nor in that of the Canary Islands there is a single word that speaks of helping local administrations. For this reason, it has again demanded the start-up of a Municipal Reconstruction Fund and the repeal of the Contract Law.
“Unrealistic” forecast.
The Secretary of Organization of CC de Tenerife, Rosa Davila, has shown concern about the income forecast, as “it is not real.” In addition, he adds, “the Government of Ángel Víctor Torres has not taken into account the problem of inflation. That can slow down the economic recovery. Nor do we see that there is a boost to public investment, which generates employment. And “the execution is very low, barely reached 35% in October,” he asserts. He has affirmed that “there is talk of a rain of millions that do not finish arriving.” It has warned of the possibility that the administrative obstacles “make that funds have to be returned to the EU.” The also regional deputy has criticized that the forecast in the General State Budgets (PGE) by 2022 «it does not respond to the situation in the Canary Islands; these accounts are a scam for the canaries ». Regarding investment for 2022 compared to 2021, “it only rises for the Canary Islands by 11.7 million euros”. Together with Linares and Dávila, the CC spokesperson was present at the Cabildo, Carlos Alonso; and the secretary of Insular Policy, José Manuel Bermúdez;
“Major concern”.
The Association of Autonomous Workers (ATA) has shown during the meeting with the nationalists its “great concern” about the number of associates who maintain the suspension of the activity due to the lack of aid, the long-awaited tax cuts and the lack of support for the fabric productive that, they remember, “generates employment.” ATA Canarias has asked the Tenerife nationalists to carry out initiatives in Congress and the Senate to modify the Second Chance Law and to maintain the flat rate.
