SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov 11 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Transportes Interurbanos de Tenerife (Titsa) increases by 13.5% the number of passengers transported on average per day with the new network of lines in the Güímar Valley, after the reorganization carried out last July.
With the new planning, the company displaces an average of 31,481 passengers per week compared to 27,674 of the previous network.
The vice president of the Cabildo and Minister of Mobility and president of Titsa, Enrique Arriaga, highlights in a note that “these data confirm that the modification of lines and services that was carried out last July was necessary to adjust the service to the needs of the inhabitants of the area and make public transport the first option for their trips “.
In his opinion, “the residents of the Güímar Valley now have a more simplified network, with better frequencies of passage and shorter travel times, which we will improve with the Tuwawa on-demand transport service, which will begin operating soon” .
For his part, the insular director of Mobility, José Alberto León, points out that the company carried out a reorganization of lines in a network that had not undergone changes for twenty years.
“From the first moment it was seen that the trend was positive and current data show that the number of travelers has increased not only on weekdays, but also on weekends and holidays,” he explains.
Titsa currently transports an average of 5,054 passengers on weekdays, which represents an increase of 13.5% compared to the previous network, when it was used by 4,451 passengers.
On Saturdays, the average number of users has grown by 15.8%, as the company displaces 3,432 users on the new network compared to 2,964 previously.
The average increase in the number of passengers has also occurred during Sundays and holidays, going from 2,455 to 2,779 today, which means a growth of 13.2%.
REORGANIZATION OF LINES IN THE GÜÍMAR VALLEY
The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the company Titsa, launched last July the new network of bus lines in the Güímar valley, which includes the municipalities of Güímar, Arafo and Candelaria, which was again adapted and improved with new services thanks to the data obtained in the first 45 days of operation.
The objective of this change was to optimize the service, simplifying current routes, improving the frequency of passage and reducing travel time.
With the new planning, the number of trips is increased by 64% and the number of kilometers covered by the public transport service is expanded by 12%.
