SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov 11 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Scientists who follow the evolution of the La Palma volcano eruption have observed just a few minutes ago an overflow in the area of the cone in which there was a lava lake, as reported by the director of the National Geographic Institute (IGN) in the Canary Islands and spokesperson for the Pevolca Scientific Committee, María José Blanco.
This lava overflow has occurred at a time when the island of La Palma has been registering an increase in seismicity at depths greater than 20 kilometers, both in number and magnitude, and a high emission of sulfur dioxide (SO2) , which although today has registered levels lower than yesterday, they are still high.
Itahiza Domínguez, IGN seismologist, has reported on his Twitter account that the lava overflow from the La Palma eruption seems to run northwest, adding that it will be necessary to see if it is maintained or is something specific that does not affect the flows of the last days that feed the fajana that has been formed on the beach of Los Guirres.
