SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov 11 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The new strip formed on the beach of Los Guirres, south of the previous one created by the original wash, continues its growth with a great contribution from lava. This fajana is located in the center of two others, since to the north is the one that created the San Juan volcano in its last eruption.
At this time, the lava continues to flow over previous flows in the central area and forks into two lava tongues below the Todoque mountain, flowing into Los Guirres.
The other castings remain stable and their fronts have not experienced movements. The affected area yesterday reached 998.34 hectares, although it is estimated that today they have already exceeded 1,000 hectares.
Since yesterday, 72 earthquakes have been located in the area affected by the reactivation and volcanic eruption of Cumbre Vieja, seven of them felt by the population in the epicentral area, according to IGN data.
Most of the activity recorded in the last 24 hours is located at depths greater than 30 km under the central area of Cumbre Vieja. It is in that area where the largest earthquake has been recorded at 03.37 hours and corresponds to an earthquake of magnitude 5.0 (mbLg) that has been felt with a maximum intensity of IV-V (EMS). This earthquake has been followed by a dense swarm of earthquakes at the same depth.
The tremor signal continues to remain low, with a significant intensification episode between 03:00 and 04:00, coinciding with the swarm of deep earthquakes.
The island’s network of permanent GNSS stations shows that after reversing the elevation of days 4 and 5 in station LP03, which is the closest to the eruptive centers, it remains at a lower level than previously established. On the other hand, the southwest deformation registered in the station still continues. In the rest of the stations, the slight deflation possibly related to deep seismicity has moderated.
In view of the calibrated image, a column height of 2,500 meters above sea level is estimated at 08:45.
