According to the latest official data for last October, unemployment currently affects 930 people in the Villa, which is 5.4 percent less than the 984 unemployed registered in the same month of 2019,
The mayor, the socialist Ana Rosa Mena, considers that this decrease in the incidence of unemployment in Tegueste denotes that, “after a very complicated time full of uncertainty, the town begins to have indicators of improvement that hope the municipality to continue progressing” .
The municipal councilor recalls that In March 2020, when the incidence of the virus began in Spain, the number of unemployed in Tegueste amounted to more than a thousand people.
Even so, the mayor assures that the Teguestero Council continues to work to promote hiring through the implementation of employment and training plans, while continuing to develop initiatives aimed at reactivating the economy and favoring local development .
By sectors, most of the unemployed –426 people– are related to the Services sector, followed by commerce, with 164 unemployed people; while there are a hundred unemployed in construction; 74 in hospitality and fifty in industry. In contrast, agriculture, with 24 unemployed, is the activity with the least unemployment, compared to 92 jobseekers who lack an assigned economic activity.
