SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 4 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The National Geographic Institute (IGN) has located 124 earthquakes in the area affected by the volcanic reactivation of Cumbre Vieja in the last 24 hours, 11 of them felt by the population, having reached the maximum intensity in the epicentral zone III-IV (EMS98 ) in three earthquakes.
The largest earthquake occurred at 09:43 this Wednesday with a magnitude of 3.7 mbLg and a depth of 14 kilometers, which was felt with intensity III-IV on the island of La Palma.
In the period considered, 8 earthquakes have been located at depths around 30 kilometers, and the rest of the hypocenters are located at a shallower depth, around 12 kilometers.
The amplitude of the volcanic tremor signal has lower levels, without intensification pulses.
The island’s network of permanent GNSS stations does not show a clear trend in the deformation of the stations closest to the eruptive centers, while in the stations further away a slight deflation is maintained, possibly related to deep seismicity.
