First resurfacing in 30 years of the road from Jama to La Escalona

“This road hasn’t been paved in thirty years”, so the condition of the road was highly deficient. The action undertaken by the Cabildo seeks to provide safety in use of the TF-565, which in its entirety «presents abundant potholes and sinkholes, as well as a progressive deterioration as a result of heavy traffic and the increase in the number of vehicles that transit in this way ».

The restatement act for this work was signed on October 26, the day on which the collection of all the machinery began on the San Miguel de Abona football field. During this period, measurements have been carried out and with milling machines, explains Arriaga.

With an investment of 1,571,070 euros, during the four months We will proceed to replace the road surface in the six and a half kilometers of the route of this road. The project also contemplates working on the ditches, improving the existing fencing, previous milling operations, the removal of the current asphalt and the replacement of pavements throughout the road; in addition, containment systems will be replenished. Arriaga indicates that “the resurfacing will mean an improvement in the conditions of safety and driving comfort.”

The object of frequent complaints by residents, users and municipal and island authorities, the intervention carried out on the TF-565 “comes to solve one of the deficits” of the road network in the region and the response to demands received by the Cabildo for years.

Jama-La Escalona is a road that connects kilometer 83 of the general highway of the South (TF-28) with the one that runs from the urban area of Arona to Vilaflor (TF-51), at the height of kilometer 12, approximately . It starts from El Roque, in San Miguel de Abona, and ends at the town of La Escalona, in the municipality of Vilaflor, through Jama. From there, the route continues to the urban area of Chasna and the Teide National Park. The TF-565 is just six and a half kilometers of highway that saves time for its many users, in both directions.

Enrique Arriaga recalls that, for safety reasons for both workers and users of the Jama-La Escalona highway, specific lane cuts are applied, with alternative traffic, during the development of approved, scheduled and ongoing works.
