The vice president of the Cabildo and also president of Metrotenerife, Enrique Arriaga, explained that the company’s technical assistance will focus on the operating part of this Mallorcan railway system.
Therefore, it will be responsible for defining the characteristics of the tram operation and its constituent elements to specify and establish commercial speeds, travel times, rolling stock, garages or terminals, among other aspects.
In addition, in the drafting of the preliminary draft of the Palma tram, the possibility of implanting the devices developed by Metrotenerife, such as Simove, Vía-Móvil and the removable rail jacket, should be raised as innovative proposals to give robustness to this future guided transport ” .
The technical offer presented by Metrotenerife and Saitec was superior to that of the rest of the bidders, as pointed out by José Alberto León, insular director of Mobility. He also specified that a period of six months has been set for carrying out these works and indicated that the Palma tram project, divided into three sections, includes 18 stops and the connection with the island’s international airport.
For several years the international projection of Metrotenerife has been growing progressively thanks to its guaranteed technical capacity. Currently its advisory and consulting services are being implemented in four continents with various projects in countries such as Ecuador, Colombia, Senegal, Albania, Peru and Israel, among others.
