National Police agents have arrested a 51-year-old man in La Laguna, with numerous police records, as the alleged perpetrator of five crimes of robbery with violence or intimidation and another of robbery or theft of the use of a motor vehicle, committed between October 18 and 22 of the current year.
Investigators from the National Police learned of a succession of violent robberies committed in the urban area of the town. The victims, all of them, elderly women who were coming out of the supermarket or bank shopping.
The agents were able to quickly identify the alleged perpetrator of the investigated events. The modus operandi followed by this person was similar in all cases. He would steal a moped that he painted to make it difficult to identify and, when leaving supermarkets or banks, he would select his victim and follow her until he found the right moment to seize her bag using the pulling procedure, causing the women to fall to the ground. .
Given the seriousness of the events, committed in just four days, special surveillance devices were established that led to the arrest of the alleged perpetrator of the robberies when he was returning home after the commission of the last of them with the victim’s belongings.
Subsequently, in the judicially authorized registry, the agents intervened different effects that it is not ruled out that they relate it to the alleged commission of other criminal acts.
The detainee, together with the statement made for this purpose, was made available to the competent judicial authority.
