The plenary session of the Santiago del Teide City Council approved today, Thursday, October 28, in a plenary session with the favorable votes of the government team (PP) and the abstention of the Canary Coalition and PSOE the approval of the basic project and the execution of the improvement and conditioning of Las Adelfas street in Los Gigantes.
It is a work that will have a basic bidding budget, including IGIC, of € 1,533,001.65 of which the Canary Islands Government Tourism Department provides, through a subsidy, € 600,000.
The action on this street will consist of the demolition of the existing pavement and the opening of ditches for the pluvial and fecal sanitation facilities, supply, lighting, telecommunications and irrigation., leaving the finished pavement at the same level, paving the road for wheeled traffic in both directions, as a single platform, favoring pedestrian routes and accessibility.
One of the starting points is to create a single platform, demolishing curbs and sidewalk and placing the asphalt at the same level. To differentiate the pedestrian routes from the road, two types of pavement are placed: one of massive gray and red porphyry 25 cm wide and variable lengths and another made of asphalt with marble additives.
In addition, the placement of a new type of tree grate that will be flush with the pavement, it is proposed to remove the existing street furniture, and replace it with a new one that is the same as the one being placed in other recent interventions in different parts of Santiago del Teide .
NEW VIEWPOINT
Taking advantage of the privileged views that the area has in the cul-de-sac of the street, the sidewalk is extended by a cantilever, which widens from the extension of the sidewalk to create a rest space and viewpoint with the most overhanging end in a chamfered shape.
Emilio Navarro, Mayor of Santiago del Teide points out that “we continue to improve the tourist area of Santiago del Teide with a program of strategic and exemplary interventions whose purpose is the rehabilitation and improvement of deteriorated urban facilities. With this work we intend, apart from improving and conditioning the entire street, create an attractive meeting point for tourists and visitors in the new cantilevered viewpoint that will take the work to the end of the street to contemplate the majestic cliffs of Los Gigantes and the wonderful sunsets that can be appreciated from there ” .
