The routes through the ravine can be carried out on weekends, as has been happening and on holidays, upon reservation of a place on the website https://www.caminobarrancodemasca.com/.
The Minister of Natural Environment and Security Management, Isabel García, recently held a meeting with the residents of the village, in which the mayor of Buenavista del Norte, Antonio González, was also present, and where it was explained that the Opening of the visitor center will also serve to reorder the influx of people interested in this enclave.
For their part, residents expressed their concerns and needs, emphasizing the traffic problem and the need for the presence of a local police officer in the area, to alleviate and control the parking problem.
“We are in front of another of the milestones that from the Cabildo de Tenerife we proposed in front of this protected space, it has been a few months that the route through the ravine has been opened, and the satisfaction among visitors is very high”, indicated the counselor of Management of the Natural Environment and Security, Isabel García, who pointed out that “with this new step we contribute to invigorate the village and offer another possibility to the visitors who come to it every day”.
According to the counselor, “the visitor center is an obligatory step for walkers who want to explore the ravine, but also offers a wide range of complementary services for all visitors, such as offering information about the Teno Rural Park in general and its network. of trails, and in particular about Masca, what to see in the town of Masca, what to do there, trails to take as an alternative to the ravine path “.
FOR NOW, WITHOUT EXIT TO THE SEA
The Barranco de Masca path is enabled only for weekends and there is, for now, the possibility of its exit by sea, until the works of the beach jetty are completed, which have already gone out to public tender by of the Cabildo.
“The improvement of this infrastructure will expand the possibilities in the active tourism sector, as well as resume the work of companies that travel by sea from Masca to the south of the island,” said the counselor.
The adaptation and improvement of the jetty contemplates the extension to a surface of 114 square meters, starting from the existing rock, placing a vertical concrete facing, as well as the extension of the rocky platform by means of prefabricated pieces of reinforced concrete.
In addition, the current walkway will be demolished, replacing it with another with a light structure.
