CC proposes to acquire homes for three years for 15 million

Carmen Delia Alberto values: «The expansion of the public housing stock is an unavoidable necessity for Tenerife society and should be a main objective of the Cabildo. Decisions must be taken immediately to help alleviate, as far as possible, the existing deficit.

The speaker recalls that the Canary Islands Housing Plan 2020-2025 includes, among its lines of action, the acquisition by the Government of the Canary Islands of developments already built to make protected housing available to the applicants and that it is necessary to “work within a framework of institutional co-responsibility between Administrations to address this problem ”. What the nationalist demands is “that the Cabildo provide economic resources, which it has, and express its commitment to guarantee access to decent and adequate housing.”

The counselor of CC-PNC bases her speech on the fact that in the plenary session on the state of the Island held on April 30, the political groups unanimously agreed to immediately start the procedures for the acquisition of real estate in order for them to be delivered. to the competent administrations and enabled as housing to increase the public park on the Island of Tenerife. “Words have to be translated into facts, says Alberto, and that is why we ask for a multi-year plan, with a contribution of 5 million euros per year, to be able to acquire the homes.”

Carmen Delia Alberto considers that “the Cabildo must provide the financing and the Government of the Canary Islands, through the public company Visocan, execute it so that people who need a home in Tenerife can access it without further delay.”

Port of Los Cristianos

The second most ambitious CC proposal in tomorrow’s plenary session refers to the Port of Los Cristianos. The nationalist formation proposes “a comprehensive improvement” and “an Action Plan to decongest the dock.” Its spokesman, Carlos Alonso, points out that part of the actions can be financed with Next Generation Funds from the European Union.

The proposal includes the rehabilitation and requalification of the southern core. The motion also provides short and medium term solutions to alleviate the traffic problem that the southern municipality suffers daily.

Carlos Alonso explains that «the Actions to be carried out in the Port of Los Cristianos and in its surroundings must allow the urban development of that area to facilitate the transition to more sustainable mobility. In particular, with the use of public transport and the increase and improvement of pedestrian space and non-motorized mobility ”.

In addition, adds the CC leader, “we must also enhance urban and commercial resources, with better integration with the coast and boost local commerce.” It also stresses, “it is necessary to incorporate sustainable solutions and promote the rehabilitation of the entire building.”

Alonso explains that there are projects that guarantee the short-term viability of such an action. Among the technical proposals to be developed is the Los Cristianos Transport Interchange project and, linked to it, a proposal to transform Chayofita Avenue into Boulevard, with a connection at different levels with the El Mojón entrance road. Also the development of a new junction on the TF-1 highway in Los Cristianos, with an already existing project to improve connections on the sea side of the junction.

CC-PNC proposes to jointly and immediately develop a Action Plan in the Port of Los Cristianos and in its environment that allows the decongestion of the connection corridor with the TF-1 on the basis of the Master Plan prepared by the Port Authority. Finally, the motion urges to seek financing for the actions through the use of Next Generation Funds.

The PP is interested in the airline

The PP demands information in the plenary session tomorrow on the participation of the Cabildo in the Tenerife airline. The popular councilor Manuel Fernández assesses: “Almost a year after Pedro Martín announced it, we do not know the steps taken.” Fernández adds: “The president should not play with the public and less in a context as difficult as the one we live in.” The popular ones understand that “the island government must lead the social and economic recovery of Tenerife, instead of wasting time with empty and hollow headlines.” Remember that the initiative “was presented on December 28 of last year, which innocent, and today we do not know anything, despite requesting information on several occasions.” That day Pedro Martín announced that the Cabildo would pay 700,000 euros in a Tenerife airline, with a 25% stake in the shareholding.
