The initiative, called Shock measures to increase hydraulic performance in several municipalities on the Island of Tenerife It consists of an action that is based on an agreement signed in 2018 with the Government of the Canary Islands. It contemplated this measure in order to avoid losses and improve the economic sustainability of its services.
The nationalist advisor, Antolín Bueno, points out that the performance “has inexplicably slowed down. We are almost at the end of 2021 and the project should have already been completed. Values in this sense that “there is an obvious lack of management of the PSOE that harms the public.”
Bueno explains: “The Cabildo has to guarantee the supply of water to the population and establish measures to help it.” He also points out that “the problem affects thousands of people.” He adds that “the mayors of the Northwest are demanding measures because they suffer restrictions and this is one of them, since with the placement of the meters in the warehouses there will be reliable data to avoid losses in the supply networks.”
The counselor of CC-PNC points out that this project is part of the aforementioned agreement with the Canary Islands Government, with a budget of 2.2 million euros and an execution period of 14 months. “We are talking about a fundamental action for the supply services provided in 12 municipalities with direct management in order to improve their hydraulic performance,” says Bueno. With the provision of these meters at the entrance and exit of municipal deposits, he indicates, “it will be possible to have reliable information on the hydraulic balance of each municipality to be able to plan actions and stop losses in their supply networks.” In some cases these losses can reach 60%.
Works in November
On October 6, the insular Area for Sustainable Development and the Fight against Climate Change announced that, Through the Insular Water Council (Ciatf), it will install “entry and exit meters and its corresponding remote control in 93 urban water supply tanks of the 12 municipalities of the Island that have direct management of their water resources. The investment is around 2.2 million and the works, already awarded, must begin in a month – at the beginning of November – with a total term of 14. Minister Javier Rodríguez Medina explained that with this initiative they are going to “get the town councils to control the hydraulic performance of the system to reduce consumption water losses as much as possible ».
The island’s municipalities that will benefit from this measure are Santa Úrsula, La Victoria, La Matanza, La Guancha, San Juan de la Rambla, Fasnia, Vilaflor, Buenavista del Norte, Los Silos, Garachico, El Tanque and El Rosario.
Rodríguez Medina pointed out then that what is involved is “having real-time information on the flows to improve the water management of these municipalities and thus be quick in solving leaks and water losses.”
CC claims a “considerable delay” but the good news for those municipalities involved is that the work will be carried out shortly.
“Delay” in Theater Schools
CC-PNC warns of the “delay in the start of the Theater Schools” and attributes it to “the mismanagement of the PSOE and Citizens.” The counselor Verónica Meseguer points out that “the students and the participating municipalities have shown their discomfort”. He adds that “it is possible that not all the activities planned for the first semester can be held.” Meseguer values these complaints from the students, as well as from the councils “since they have not received information about the start of the course. The rules were published late and today it is very possible that all the programming will not be developed. In this regard, he points out that “in the previous mandate, it was notified since June so that interested parties could organize.” For the counselor of CC, the lack of coordination and lack of planning “is the result of the mismanagement of the PSOE and Citizens, who have wasted time in destroying the above.” Rate: «The Theater Schools worked well and they wanted to change them, but it was for the worse. The penalty is that they harm the people who carried out the activities. He insists that the delay in the start “is not because of Covid-19 or the European Union or the CC, which is what they always say.” And he concludes: «The way to manage is to eliminate what works or make what was worse. This cultural activity was already successful.
