
The City Council of Santiago del Teide in collaboration with the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo de Tenerife has presented the activities that under the name of “Postigos de Embrujo 2021” will be carried out in commemoration of All Saints’ Day and with which the consistory seeks to recover, protect and disseminate old traditions of Santiago del Teide, the Canary Islands and the world.
This is the second edition of this cultural project “Postigos de Embrujo”, which will take place from Friday, October 29 to Tuesday, November 2 and which will become an activity of an ethnographic nature and to promote knowledge about uses and customs. that are part of the cultural heritage of the islands and the municipality.
In this new edition, the theme will be linked to the customs around death that are part of Mexican culture and our own, in such a way as to reflect, through each “shutter”, the way in which the terminal effect life is experienced and assumed differently according to both communities; Hence, the content and activities integrated in this project are based on aspects related to fear and stories devoid of empirical reasoning, but which are part of the oral heritage of the peoples.
The program of events will begin this Friday, October 29, from 12:00 hours in the central courtyard of the City Hall, with the opening of the exhibition entitled “Mexican Popular Art”. That same day from 6:00 p.m., a video of cxostubre canarias (Santiago del Teide) will be projected through the RRSS of the consistory for the day of the deceased.
On Saturday, October 30, at double time, 8:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., the Ruta de las Bujas will take place with a circular route leaving from the square, Camino Real, Casona del Patio and back to the square. On Sunday, October 31, at 8:00 p.m. at the Grama Cultural Center and aimed at a more familiar audience, the film “Coco” will be screened.
On Monday, November 1, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Grama Cultural Center there will be a “Calacas Workshop” aimed at a family audience and a Catrina Doll Workshop aimed at an adult audience. From 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Grama Cultural Center there will be an Altar de Muertos Workshop aimed at an adult and family audience. At 7:00 p.m., in the Central Patio of the City Hall there will be a show called “Mexico, Thematic Show: music, stories, altar of the dead, tasting of bread of the dead …
On November 2 and as usual in the different municipal cemeteries there will be a music recital in memory of the deceased by the group “AEterna”.
