The regional deputy of the PP criticized Sebastián Franquís for “being unable to advance the least in a vital project for the north of Tenerife, despite having in the hands of the PSOE all the competent institutions to advance fruitfully in this case. Now that they are in charge of the main institutions, we ask them to coordinate and not make any more excuses.
In the opinion of the popular, «we are facing a repeated non-compliance with the citizens of Puerto de la Cruz because in the budgets of the previous year or in those of this year a single euro has been allocated for the port and maritime project in the first tourist city of the Canary Islands ».
Manuel Domínguez recalled in the Public Works Commission of the Parliament of the Canary Islands that in 2019 a motion presented in the Cabildo of Tenerife asked that the economic endowment for the Portuense project be maintained: “A motion that the Socialists threw down on the pretext that the sheet of route had not been fulfilled and that studies were missing to complete ».
“We wonder, after two years of socialist management in the four institutions of reference, such as the Puerto de la Cruz City Council, the Tenerife Cabildo, the Canary Islands Government and the Government of Spain, what have they done to unblock the declaration of environmental impact, the processing by Costas of the exceptionality of affection towards some protected species as a port of exceptional public interest, as well as with respect to the compatibility report of the marine strategy for the Canarian demarcation? ». The answer to this question is, according to Manuel Domínguez, “nothing”. In his opinion, “they have devoted as little time and effort to this file as to other projects of general and strategic interest in the rest of the islands.”
For the popular deputy, the project of the port and maritime park for the city of Puerto de la Cruz «has been sleeping for more than five years the dream of the just before the carelessness and indifference of the current Minister of Public Works and the Canarian president, Ángel Víctor Torres (PSOE), who does not seem to be interested in the investment in infrastructure for Tenerife in the least ”. Domínguez maintains that the Puerto de la Cruz marina, fishing, commercial and tourist port project “has been gathering dust in the drawers since April 2016.”
Next Saturday will mark ten years since more than 15,000 people gathered in the Plaza de Europa, on October 30, 2011, to demand that in 2012 the construction works of the long-awaited sports, fishing and commercial pier of the tourist city begin. . The demonstration was one of the most crowded in the history of the North of the Island and, despite subsequent announcements, the dock project remains stuck and with no signs of being unblocked in the medium or long term.
