After the formal complaint before the Common Delegate of the union staff delegate, who works in the CAMP Reina Sofía de Güímar, requesting to increase security on the TF-525 Arafo-Güímar insular highway, the City Council and the Cabildo have reached an agreement to write a project that improves pedestrian safety on that road, with wider and steeper shoulders, and even the possibility of widening a curve, according to Mayor Gustavo Pérez told this newspaper.
This principle of agreement was taken on Thursday, at the meeting held by the Deputy of the Common, Rafael Yanes; the insular director of Roads, Tomás Félix García, and the mayor of Güímar, Gustavo Pérez, in which they decided that the Cabildo de Tenerife would be in charge of drafting the projects for this important road, which connects the neighborhood of Fátima with the municipality of Arafo, to then proceed to the signing of an agreement establishing the financial distribution of the project between the Cabildo and the City Council and the two administrations that have powers, respectively, with the shoulders of the insular highway and the municipal sidewalk.
The deputy of the Common was very satisfied by the good receptivity that he saw in both administrations and hopes that a serious security problem in the area will soon be solved, especially for the relatives and students of the CAMP Reina Sofía, a residence located after a blind curve and no sidewalk in the surroundings, with the danger that this entails when entering and leaving the center.
Gustavo Pérez, for his part, welcomes the beginning of the first steps of this important agreement, which may have a solution in the medium term, but insists on taking actions that improve the situation of this road, thanking the understanding of this request to the insular director of highways, who also asked him to widen some of the curves of the route.
The Reina Sofía de Güímar Care Center for the Mentally Handicapped has 40 daytime places and 56 residential places. They are young people or adults with intellectual disabilities and associated physical or sensory dysfunction.
Sunday retires
Thursday was the last day of Domingo Mesa as an ordinance of the Güímar City Council, after retiring after 40 years as a worker for the Consistory. He has also been the driver of the mayors and the person in charge of notifications. Domingo el Gomero, as he was known -he is a native of Hermigua-, began in collection and tributes until he won the opposition as an ordinance in 1990.
The PSOE dismisses Carlos Llarena as trusted personnel
The mayor of Güímar, Gustavo Pérez (CC), signed the decree of dismissal of Carlos Llarena as a trusted person, at the request of his government partner, the PSOE. Llarena served during the first two years in which Airam Puerta (PSOE) was mayor, as secretary of the Mayor’s Office. On September 17 he signed as press officer of the Dadarmo Basketball Club, recently promoted to the EBA League. However, he continued in his post until the entire municipal Socialist group (five councilors) decided to request his dismissal, which, according to Llarena “saddens me, because they do it now that I am off due to depression,” he commented on social networks. In her place will enter Anabel Tejera, number 6 on the PSOE electoral list. The City Council has two positions for trusted personnel, the other is occupied by Jorge Javier García (CC). Now, being a municipality of more than 20,000 inhabitants, it is entitled to up to seven places in this position.
