Tenerife exceeds pre-pandemic connectivity with central and eastern Europe

In this sense, the island president, Pedro Martin, has received the ambassador of Spain in Hungary, Anunciada Fernández, and the Minister of Tourism of Spain in Austria, Rocío Martín, who have confirmed the notable increase in connectivity in Hungary in particular, but also in the rest of the central countries and eastern Europe.

In this regard, Martín stressed that the island’s connectivity with Budapest has tripled compared to what it had before the pandemic, going from having around 15,000 places per month to practically reaching 45,000 in December of this year and in January. of 2022.

In addition, he assured that the demand observed in the digital tools of Tourism of Tenerife reflects a number of places available in the companies significantly higher than those of 2019, also, in countries such as the Czech Republic or Austria.

New strategy to attract visitors

For this reason, Turismo de Tenerife is developing its new strategy to attract a greater number of visitors with diverse interests beyond the sun and the beach, with special attention to its heritage and ethnographic wealth, in addition to its rich cultural, gastronomic, and nature and leisure.

The ambassador of Spain in Hungary expressed the pleasant emotion that, in a large part of the members of the group, the landscape diversity of the island had caused.

“Many thought they were coming to a destination of sun and beach and they have conveyed their surprise to us when visiting places as different and rich in architecture and landscape as La Laguna or Teide, both World Heritage Sites,” he said.

For its part, the Minister of Tourism of Spain in Austria, with powers to promote national destinations, both in Hungary and Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bulgaria and Romania, has ratified the “interest of these countries in come to the Canary Islands and, more specifically to Tenerife, after the pandemic “.
