SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct 21 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Governing Council of the Canary Islands this Thursday gave the go-ahead to the emergency contracting on the island of Fuerteventura of short-stay accommodation resources, within the ‘Arca de Noé’ project worth 388,602 euros.
This resource, which has covered 6,033 overnight stays, has been activated for the isolation or quarantine of people who have it indicated due to COVID-19 and have difficulty in complying with it.
Prior to hiring, the Health Services Management of Fuerteventura has reported the need to provide the island with an alternative accommodation and coexistence resource that allows vulnerable people to be appropriately isolated or quarantined, which avoids hospital admissions that are not strictly necessary and leaves resources free for patients with the greatest need for care.
As a result of the justified need in such reports, the Health Area Directorate contracted for emergency processing, in accordance with Law 9/2017 on Public Sector Contracts, the accommodation service in short-stay establishments.
The ‘Arca de Noé’ project was launched in October last year by the Canary Islands Health Service for the provision of private accommodation to socially vulnerable people and migrants who must perform isolation or quarantine for being positive cases in COVID- 19 or suspected cases, probable or close contacts of a positive.
Likewise, it is intended for health personnel with a diagnosis, suspicion or contact with COVID-19 or with a high level of occupational exposure to contagion, regardless of whether they must perform isolation or quarantine.
With short-stay accommodation, the spread of the virus as a result of new infections, the use of health resources without justifying health reasons and the reduction of hospital pressure is avoided.
