San Andrés bridge works. / TC

Last Monday the San Andrés bridge was closed to pedestrians, with the aim of continuing with the remodeling work on the structure that has been closed since before the summer due to the risk that it would end up giving way to vehicles. According to the Councilor for Infrastructure, Dámaso Arteaga, assured DIARIO DE AVISOS, “the works are on schedule. So, if everything remains the same, in the first weeks of November, even if the rehabilitation work has not been completely completed, the bridge can be opened to traffic ”. Arteaga explained that “the works will last until the end of November, but they can continue to be carried out without affecting the passage of vehicles.” Asked if all types of vehicles would pass, he assured that it would. “Both those of large tonnage and normal cars will be able to pass through the bridge, recovering normality.”

In this way, the residents of the towns of Anaga will recover the passage that they have seen interrupted and that has forced the installation of a military bridge in the area.

Meanwhile, the study to elucidate where the second bridge will be placed supports its placement at the same point where the military bridge is located, “the project has already been commissioned, but we all know that the definitive solution is the one included in planning, and it is the one that crosses the Valley of the Huertas ”, pointed out Arteaga.

Transport

The total closure of the bridge that was executed last Monday, forced Titsa to change the way in which it provided transport service until now. Thus, since Tuesday, line 946 Connection Anaga, which covers the route between Intercambiador and Cercado de San Andrés, is being carried out with a 26-seater minibus.
With this bus, users reach the stop located on the opposite side of the bridge, since the vehicle (minibus) will cross the current military bridge installed to link with the 946 Taganana-Almáciga shuttle line, and vice versa.

In order to ensure the capacity limit of this minibus, line 946 between Intercambiador and San Andrés will not make intermediate stops to drop off passengers, it will only pick up passengers with an inland destination to San Andrés. As for the pedestrian crossing, this is being carried out through the pedestrian walkway that exists between Pedro Schwartz avenue and the Infobox, until the bridge crossing is reopened at the beginning of November to all types of traffic.
