The Candelaria City Council, through the Social Services, has detected among the users of the Special Center for Integral Recovery (CERI) the need to work in a personalized way with people who have physical and functional limitations.
In this way the project arises’Better Health at the Best Age ‘, “This initiative, which has a municipal investment of 29,000 euros and has served more than 30 people, aims to offer quality activities that allow users to improve their physical, social and mental well-being, the protection of their own rights and achieve the highest possible level of autonomy and independence. An evaluation process has begun, analyzing and identifying possible problems of each person and, subsequently, an individualized action program has been developed, twice a week for one hour ”, explains the mayor of Candelaria, Mari Brito.
This activity is carried out in a personalized way in the multidisciplinary training center Naps, directed by the physiologist Joseph marcolino.
Olivia Perez, Councilor for Social Services, points out that the beneficiaries have been mainly older than 60 years, identified by Social Services, affected by different injuries caused by accidental situations or activities, which require a preventive intervention, which provides optimal physical performance. “Among the results obtained in the participants, the acquisition of habits for a healthier lifestyle, a full increase in autonomy, a reduction in medical visits and symptoms that affect physical, psychological and social level stand out. they represent the beginning of the aging process ”, highlights the mayor.
