The selfless work of these neighbors made it possible to detect seven fully accessible spaces: the Glorieta de San Francisco, the square of La Libertad, the municipal sports center and swimming pool, the pier beach, the marina and the old pier. They are classified as “practicable spaces” Santo Domingo square; the natural pools of The Caleton, that “although they are not fully accessible for people with reduced mobility, one of them does have an access ramp to the water”, or San Roque square.
As for accessible buildings, the municipal pavilion is mentioned, the Stone House and the health center. With the appellation of “practicable”, and therefore with an accessibility to be improved, the town hall itself appears, which is “a very old building, which makes any intervention to improve its accessibility difficult. For access, an alternative entrance has been enabled on one side that leads to the first floor. From there you can access various services, although not all, since there is no possibility of going up to the second floor. They are also considered only practicable the old convent of San Francisco, the youth house, the social services or the parish of Santa Ana.
Among the spaces declared inaccessible are the Puerta de Tierra Park, “With an entrance with numerous stone steps that make people with reduced mobility unable to enjoy their spaces”, and the Juan González de la Torre square, «With a completely impassable access; surrounded by steps that are not easily salvageable. In addition, the entrances to the center of the square, where the fountain is located, also have steps that make the passage difficult. The Castillo de San Miguel and the hermitage of San Roque are inaccessible buildings, which have entrances with steps. This neighborhood work has also made it possible to establish different itineraries from the old soccer field and the esplanade of the old pier, with contributions for the elimination of barriers that hinder the transit of wheelchairs or carts.
