The Sports Area of Council has presented the details of the program to the representatives of the 31 city councils of the Island. A landmark project to promote sport in which every year all the municipalities turn.
Sports and autochthonous disciplines will have a place and prominence, as is traditional, hand in hand with the game of stick, pineapple or billiards. According to the annual report of the company Solventia, awarded the service, in the last edition about 5,000 schoolchildren participated, a figure that will be equal at least this year.
Concepción Rivero values: “The Cabildo Games are a priority program in the area.” He adds that it is “a model of success, not only for promoting a more active and healthy child and youth population, but also as a national example of equal participation, since more than 55% are women.”
The counselor thanked the representatives of the municipalities for their willingness to collaborate in a program that has continued despite the pandemic. Rivero assesses: «They have been two atypical years, with suspension of days and activities, or their adaptation». But even so, he points out, “Thanks to the involvement of municipalities, sports federations, clubs and families, rallies, matches and meetings have been carried out.”
Ángel Pérez announces the inclusion of “the Canarian Motor Games for children to learn about and enjoy the game of stick, pineapple or billiards”. He explains that “the intention is to encourage the population to stop living with their backs to the sea and therefore the pilot experiences with sailing and surfing.”
