The Circle of Friendship XII of January will host this Thursday, October 21, the presentation of the book “Fiestas de Canarias”, of which Juan Agustín Pérez Pérez is the author. The appointment will take place at the theater of the Recreo headquarters on Ruiz de Padrón de Santa Cruz street, starting at 7.30 pm.

“Fiestas de Canarias” is the result of more than 20 years of compiling photographs and studying the festive customs of the towns of the eight Canary Islands, a total of about 90 celebrations displayed on some 400 pages. These are experiences and images that are captured in a unique and collectable copy of the Turquesa publishing house.
The work shows some 800 images, through which the reader can enter into some of the most deeply rooted popular celebrations that take place in the Archipelago.
We are facing a documentary work by Juan Agustín Pérez Pérez, where he naturally shows the party, not only during the celebration itself, but from the moments of its preparation. We are facing a sample of the culture and traditions of the Canary Islands: festivals, pilgrimages, boats, processions … All done out of great respect for traditions and advocating for their conservation, leaving testimony of this legacy for future traditions.
Professor of drawing and photography at the IES Granadilla, Juan Agustín Pérez has also been noted for his desire to photograph the landscape of the Canary Islands.
The work includes introductory texts by the writer, photographer and screenwriter from Pucela, based in the Islands, Ángel Vallecillo, who will also be in charge of presenting the work at this event at Recreo. Published in December 2020, the book stands out for its luxurious presentation.
