SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct 18 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Government of the Canary Islands, with the collaboration of the councils of Tenerife and La Palma, has organized today and tomorrow at the Agricultural Training School of Los Llanos de Aridane a conference for the management of desalinated waters in crops affected by the volcanic eruption.
These presentations have a double objective, on the one hand, to train technicians from agricultural organizations, cooperatives, irrigation communities, staff of the Cabildo and Agricultural Extension Agencies, and on the other hand, the purpose of solving the doubts that farmers may have in relation to the appropriate method for the management of desalinated water or any other question that may arise. This last presentation will take place at the Benahoarita Archaeological Museum in Los Llanos de Aridane.
The talks will serve to clarify aspects such as adjustments in fertilization, the cases of banana and avocado, or the management of banana farms in the Isla Baja area, among other topics. Access to the conference is free until full capacity is reached.
The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Government of the Canary Islands, Alicia Vanoostende, pointed out the importance of these conferences “to provide the necessary training so that our sector temporarily adapts to the management of desalinated water on its farms, since it is the faster and more efficient way to maintain farms while the volcanic crisis lasts “.
