SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct 17 (EUROPA PRESS) –
A total of 22 of the 38 operations planned at La Palma Airport today have been canceled, according to Aena sources, who indicate that despite this situation the Airport is still operating.
Practically all the operations that have been canceled were scheduled to operate this morning, most of them inter-island flights, but two operations with Bilbao, another two with Zurich and two with Madrid have also been suspended.
Companies like Binter already announced yesterday afternoon that the latest evolution of the ash cloud, coming from the volcanic eruption, forced the temporary stoppage of their flights with La Palma until 12:59 p.m. today.
The different companies are at all times attentive to the meteorological evolution, so that they will try to recover the activity as soon as possible and provided that the conditions allow to resume the flights, guaranteeing their safety.
For now, the rest of the flight schedule in the Archipelago continues to develop normally. However, from Aena they influence that cancellations have already been announced and passengers are asked to check with their airline if they are going to fly.
