“It is not up to me to decide, but I think that the PSOE is not going to appeal the sentence of the non-expulsion of Mena,” said Pedro Martín in Onda Tenerife. The insular secretary of the Tenerife socialists pointed out that “I do not make evaluations of the sentences, but, if the expulsion procedure was not correct, the ruling will have to be accepted”, insisting that “the appeal would not resolve the confrontation in Arona.”
Martín indicated that “the problem arose in Arona, not in the island or regional, and that is where the solution must be sought. That crisis is not resolved with a stroke of the pen from the outside ”, recalling that, since it is a municipality of more than 50,000 inhabitants, it is the regional and federal executives who instructed the file and those who must decide on the appeal, understanding that“ the party will not want to make a hasty decision ”.
The secretary of Organization of the regional executive, Jorge González, limited himself to saying yesterday that “we are in a deep reflection”, when asked by this newspaper about the recourse to the reinstatement of Mena in the party according to the ruling of a Court of Arona . He recalled that they have until the 27th to present the appeal, but left open the possibility that the situation of the bankruptcy of the socialist municipal group in Arona could be redirected. “From minute one we wanted an understanding, not a lawsuit. It is a situation that must be resolved at the local level and at the City Council ”, he commented.
On the other hand, Pedro Martín, as president of the Cabildo, said yesterday that “there is no controversy with the Arico City Council. I myself renewed the compensation agreement for which he receives 800,000 euros per year for the Environmental Complex. If what they want is more money, they must bring a proposal, to be evaluated by our legal services ”.
