Valle de Guerra recovered this Saturday the staging of the traditional Librea, one of the most important popular theater acts in the Archipelago, which recreates the Battle of Lepanto, which is now 450 years old. After the parenthesis caused by the pandemic last year, which forced the cancellation of the representation, it recovered on this occasion before a capacity of 400 people in the church square. The function could also be followed live, through the social networks of the La Laguna City Council and the Friends of La Librea Cultural Association.

Declared as an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC), this year the Livery began to be part of the Spanish Intangible Heritage Platform of the Ministry of Culture, an incorporation that certifies the values of this ritualized staging in which historical facts are brought together. and religious that are embodied in Canarian popular theater.

On this occasion the direction was in charge of the Burka Teatro company and the Nuestra Señora de Lourdes music band was responsible for the musical accompaniment. The Valle de Guerra livery is a tribute to the Canarian soldiers who participated in the crucial battle of Lepanto (in 1571), led by captain Francisco Díaz Pimienta, whose victory they attributed to the divine intercession of the Virgin of the Rosary. The Valle de Guerra livery is also a commemoration of the victory of the Christians in the battle of Lepanto, between the Turkish squad under the command of Ali Pasha and the Christian league made up of the Papal State, Venice and Spain, led by Juan from Austria.

This year the car sacramental took place in the square, which became a theater and was limited to control the capacity, limited to 35% of the usual. As for the tickets, they were made by invitation, and they were sold out several days in advance.
