The news that the Cabildo de Tenerife is going to build a wall in the Cruz del Carmen area, to prevent vehicles from parking at a point that interrupted the passage, has caused several Anaga associations to come forward with this information, clarifying that that limitation of parking is not what they demand. “What we want is for tourists to visit Anaga, and not pass by because they have nowhere to park, to stay and consume in the massif,” they point out from the Montañas de Anaga collective, in which representatives of Roque Negro join , Taborno, Afur, La Cumbre and Punta Anaga.
They are aware that an organization is necessary according to the natural space in which they develop their life, but they insist that removing parking lots is not the solution. They recall that they have already held several meetings with the Deputy of the Common in which they have been addressing possible solutions, the first of which involves the purchase of a site by the Cabildo, which can be used for car parks. “At the meeting we held at the Government Sub-delegation, the sub-delegation promised that there would be more presence of the Civil Guard on weekends and holidays to avoid traffic collapses. And that is not happening. Last Sunday they did not appear and yesterday Saturday neither, with the circulatory chaos that occurred once again ”.
Neighbors insist that the solution to traffic in Anaga involves a combination of several factors, from the presence of the Civil Guard, the construction of car parks, or the implementation of shuttle buses. They point out that they need a much more elaborate plan so that it can be visited in an orderly manner, with guides to accompany visitors, with activities that help them to get to know Anaga better, in short, an accompaniment to the tourist development of the massif.
The neighbors trust that in the last pending meeting with the Common Deputy, in which all the administrations involved in Anaga will participate, together with the neighbors, they can clarify the needs and decisions to be taken jointly, and not those that Each administration decides to implement it individually.
