LAS PALMAS DE GRAN CANARIA, Oct 9 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, will visit the island of La Palma this Sunday to hold a meeting with the personnel of the Armed Forces deployed in the framework of Operation ‘La Palma 2021’, as reported by the Ministry.
The ‘Cumbre Vieja’ volcano, which this Sunday will celebrate three weeks since the beginning of the eruptive process, has affected a total of 497 hectares and has destroyed or caused damage to 1,281 buildings and infrastructure, according to the latest update of the Union’s Copernicus program European.
For its part, the eruption continues to maintain the same behavior as the previous days with an explosiveness that is at level 2 on a scale of a maximum of 8.
Lava emissions are concentrated in the emission centers of the main crater and no other center is expected to open for the time being, while seismicity continues to occur at great depths with no ground deformity being detected outside the current area. .
As for the height of the ashes, it reaches 3,500 meters and the fajana has an area of more than 32 hectares; while the number of earthquakes has increased in recent days, registering a maximum magnitude of 4.1 degrees that was felt by the population.
