The activity program It includes three presentations by professionals and experts in the field, which are named: Social Well-being and Agricultural Biodiversity, Environmental and Healthy Well-being, and On the Move for Health. Likewise, several workshops are planned that will deal with social, environmental and healthy well-being, and a gastronomic exhibition offered by chef Pedro Rodríguez Dios.
As explained by the provincial president of the Red Cross in S / C de Tenerife, Mayte Pociello, these conferences were born thanks to the fact that «we have joined forces with local administrations and other entities, companies and people concerned and interested in the matter we are addressing, agriculture, from a perspective of knowledge and what it contributes to well-being in our health and in the environment.
The intervention of Red Cross with people is comprehensive from its different areas of knowledge, so this initiative is directly linked to the work carried out by the Institution in the framework of care for people. Specifically, from its Health area, it seeks to promote a healthy and conscious diet. «With the help of local producers and representatives of the primary sector, we want to transmit knowledge about health and sustainability that lead to more conscious attitudes when it comes to eating, demonstrating that culinary art is as important as the origin of food, the zero waste or nutritional value ”, adds Mayte Pociello.
Likewise, from its Environment area, actions are promoted to prevent climate change, within the framework of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, with a view to mitigating the effects that are already manifesting themselves. The Red Cross estimates that one of the sectors to consider in each community, due to its importance, is local agriculture. In addition to being part of our environment, It offers kilometer 0 products, improves the landscape, favors the conservation of agricultural soils, promotes biodiversity and offers healthy products. On the other hand, from the employability aspect, the Red Cross considers that this sector is a generator of employment that already offers opportunities and challenges.
