The Juan Santamaría field is one of the spaces that has been intervened through the emergency route. / GIVES

The contract that the Councilor for Sports of Santa Cruz, Alicia Cebrián, awarded by emergency means to a single company to repair the damage to different soccer fields in the capital, has been declared null and void in a report prepared by the Senior Official of the City Council, which requires its ex officio review. This is how the PSOE advanced it yesterday in the municipal Control Commission, in which they disfigured the Councilor for Sports who had used that formula when the process to fix the damage should have followed the ordinary procedure, or, in any case, the emergency procedure , never the emergency one.

The Senior Official establishes that the actions (arrangement of stands, goals, lawn …) cannot be considered within the framework of emergency contracts, since the different reports do not justify the emergency in any way, since, although it is established that the Damages could put the safety of field users at risk, it is not clear what would happen if they were not fixed.

Cebrián defended that the risk for the users of the soccer fields forced them to act quickly. He advanced that his area has already drawn up the specifications for the reform of the Juan Santamaría field, and that in the semester of next year a general maintenance contract for all sports facilities will be put out to tender, to prevent a situation from repeating itself that, now We will have to see how a contract that exceeded 250,000 euros is legally resolved
