It is the demand raised by the sector in the coordination meeting held yesterday and chaired by the mayor, Jose Domingo Regalado. It was also attended by the councilors of Security, Transportation and Works, María Candelaria Rodríguez, Fredi Oramas and Conchi Cabrera, respectively; Representatives of AENA, the inspection service of the Cabildo and the Granadilla de Abona Taxis Association, Local Police, Civil Guard, National Police and Canary Islands Police.
Regalado supported the request of the taxi drivers to relocate the stop in the departures terminal, “even more so if the crisis situation derived from the pandemic is taken into account, which has severely affected this activity, directly linked in our municipality to the airport” .
The meeting addressed the problem of intrusion in the sector. The councilor thanked the state security forces for their willingness to work together against the problem of intrusion, while María Candelaria Rodríguez explained that with yesterday’s meeting, regular meetings are resumed to address this problem. In his opinion, “we must continue with the synergies between the different security forces and bodies and go hand in hand with the other administrations with competence in the matter.”
The mayor of Transport, Fredi Oramas, indicated that during the meeting the need for priority to be given to the taxi sector in the works carried out at the airport was exposed and emphasized that “public transport must be located in the airport terminal. departure, a fair claim, since that is how it is contemplated in the Tenerife North Airport and in the rest of the airports in Spain ».
Municipal authorities state that these types of meetings are held to combat this scourge more effectively, since, in addition to directly and seriously affecting taxi drivers, this reverts to the quality of transport and the provision of a vital service such as the mobility of people.
