Miguel Cabrera Pérez-Camacho won this Tuesday the elections held in the Tenerife Casino to decide its Board of Directors and, therefore, the Presidency of the historic Santa Cruz society.
Cabrera, a former high-ranking position both in the Canary Coalition and in the Popular Party, was already the president of said institution since the elections that took place in 2017, and with his triumph, permanence in the position -except for imponderable- until 2025 is guaranteed.
According to the sources consulted by this newspaper, the list headed by Miguel Cabrera Pérez-Camacho was imposed on the one led by his rival, Maria Jesus de Lojendio, by 571 votes to 435, a difference greater than that predicted on the eve, perhaps in part thanks to the final effort of the continuists, who did not hesitate to resort to personal telephone calls to the members in search of their support in these elections.
The Real Casino de Tenerife, considered the oldest company in the Canary Islands since it was founded in 1840, is located in the central area of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in front of the Plaza de La Candelaria. As shown in Wikipedia, its headquarters is a monumental building developed in a cubic volume that is articulated on its main vertex with a prismatic tower. Its main façade has a clear sense of horizontality, defined by a balcony running over the main floor, an outstanding cornice and a smooth entablature to which ascending lines are contrasted given by a succession of columns developed in the central body in double height.
