Latest news on the La Palma volcano

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct 5 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The technical director of Pevolca, Miguel Ángel Morcuende, wanted to send a message to the whole world insisting that La Palma is “a safe island” despite the eruption of the volcano, which, as he recalled, only affects 8 Maximum% of the island’s surface.

At a press conference, Miguel Ángel Morcuende said that it is “very important” to give this message and he believes that it is “very unfair” to give a contrary message, alluding in this way to international media that are reporting wrongly on developments of the volcano.

Morcuende has emphasized that “unfortunately we have a serious problem in a part of the island’s surface, with a volcano tucked between houses, but we must insist [en este mensaje] before foreign media, especially to get them out of a possible mistake. “

He has also pointed out that unless there is an impact on the La Palma Airport by the ash, the communications by air “are working well” and the maritime ones “perfectly”, so that the island is “perfectly connected” with the rest of the Archipelago and the rest of the countries of the European Union.

Consequently, he does not believe that there are reasons not to visit La Palma and “enjoy the island, its inhabitants, its landscapes”. “Unfortunately, we have the problem in the Aridane Valley, but in the rest of the island it is possible to be perfectly and that must be amplified,” said Miguel Ángel Morcuende, to add that the palm trees are “the first interested in having a economic activity that also helps the affected people to move forward “.
