SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 3 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez, has requested that in Islands that are at level 1, decreed by the Government of the Canary Islands, restrictions on capacity and hours be eliminated in the commerce and hospitality sectors.

José Manuel Bermúdez considers that the epidemiological data and the trend of infections “are very positive in recent weeks and it is time to start a debate in the Canary Islands on the possibility of eliminating these restrictions”. He added that Tenerife “should be at level 1 since last Thursday, because this is what the epidemiological reports indicate.”

According to the mayor, “it does not make sense that, while the capacity of soccer fields in all Spain can be covered to 100%, that of sports pavilions to 80% or the planes can go with all their seats occupied, the cultural activity , restaurant or commercial continue to be conditioned by capacity and schedule restrictions “.

These restrictions, the mayor indicated, “continue to be a drag on the economic reactivation or the recovery of employment, which is now a priority for the battered economy of thousands of families in Santa Cruz and the rest of the island and the Canary Islands.”

Finally, he pointed out that said elimination of restrictions, which are already being carried out by other autonomous communities, “should be adopted at the moment in which each island is at medium or low risk, according to the epidemiological reports published by the Government itself. of the Canary Islands “.
