In his reflection, he established that the division in half of the municipal government of Arona after obtaining an absolute majority in 2019, with a complaint from one of the parties to the Prosecutor’s Office (filed) included; the expulsion of the mayor and the complainant councilor, Luis García (whose dismissal as mayor of Urbanism gave rise to the rupture) and the external support of the PSOE to the socialist faction facing Mena “is a personal and human problem, of disagreements.”
Failure of all
The insular president of the PSOE assured that what happened “is not a conflict between the local group and the insular, regional and national leadership.” Pedro Martín placed the solution, “if there is one”, of the problem that hinders the governance of the municipality of Arona “in the government group itself, which is where it arises.” He admitted that the judicial decision, wholly favorable to the lawsuit of José Julián Mena, is a “failure of all” in the attempt to resolve the problem.
Martín Domínguez pointed to the Regional Executive Commission and the Federal Executive Commission as the authors of the file that the judge, in keeping with what was defended by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, considered insufficient to disagree with Mena. The participation of the Insular limited it to “the work meetings” held to try to reunify the Municipal Socialist Group.
The president of the PSOE in Tenerife stressed that “it is not a problem of political debate, but of personal confrontation.” Pedro Martín said he was not “especially optimistic, but I think there is still opportunity” to redirect the situation of the municipal government of Arona.
